Sightseeing Out Of Town

There are various tourist attractions near Paris. Which ones are worth visiting? Let me share my opinions:

The Chateau is beautiful on the outside, but gaudy and vulgar inside.

However, the gardens are spectacular and, if the sun is shining and you fancy a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it's worth spending a few hours strolling around the Versailles gardens.

Gardens of Versailles

How to get there: take the RER train C to Versailles Rive Gauche.

Monet's house is at Giverny, 80km north west of Paris.

How to get there: take the train from Gare St Lazare to Vernon.

There's not much to say about Eurodisney. If you love this sort of thing, it's great fun and value for money.

If you're able to, the best time to go is during school time as the queues are far shorter. If you have to go during the school holidays, accept you're going to have to stand around a lot.

How to get there: take the RER train A to Marne-la-Vallee.
